The journal "Vestnik of Kostroma State University. Series: Pedagogy. Psychology. Sociokinetics" appears since 1994, changing its name rather than its main mission – improving the quality and openness of fundamental and applied, practice-oriented psychological and pedagogic investigations. The aim of the journal appears to be promotion of scientific collaboration between Russian and foreign authors by presenting the latest scientific developments in pedagogy and psychology. The journal serves as an open and independent platform for substantiating and explaining current challenges of our time; determining strategies for pedagogic and psychological education as well as organising psychological and pedagogic help for people at different age stages in the current developmental situation; presenting scientific schools, interesting projects; presenting social problems, controversies and ways for their constructive resolution by individual and group subjects. The main objectives include providing a scientific platform for authors to discuss the results of their investigations; promoting cooperation between authors, the creation of new scientific teams engaged in research into topical contemporary problems; increasing the visibility, citation, verisimilitude and authority of published scientific work not only in Russia, but also in the global scientific space. It is a peer-reviewed scientific journal open for international cooperation and publishing original analytical, review and theoretical articles, ones describing experimental investigations in pedagogy, psychology and sociokinetics.

It is enlisted in the Official list of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and periodicals of the Highest attestation commission of the Russian Federation, in which a degree pretender is obliged to publish its basic scientific results of the thesis being worked out. The journal is recognized by the Russian Science Citation Index provided by the Russian Scientific Electronic Library.
